MOON OVER
(c) 2026 Gary Bouchard
She’s sometimes strong but sometimes weak
She’s often brave with a cautious streak
Sending signals, she’ll occasionally speak
She’s melody but she’ll harmonize
Swears her love with a look in her eyes
But I lost my sight in the dark of night
Then she moved closer … she said, she said
Theres a moon over our heads, our heads
She’s usually clear but here’s the confusion
Every night brings the same illusion
I’m praying that she’s staying for a moonlit conclusion
She grabbed me politely and said hold on to me tightly
Yeah, you got that right, everything’s better by moonlight
Then she moved closer … she said, she said
Theres a moon over our heads, our heads
ELATION
(c) 2026 Gary Bouchard
I was younger last night, but I stopped counting my years,
Time is arbitrary and time stands still.
For a moment, for an hour,
For the days our doubts devour.
The years of our duration could be the length of our elation.
You are wisdom and thought, I am just instinct yet I do as I'm taught
Discover that the other has been the long-lost missing part
Since the beginning, Since the start
Since the very first beat of the first heart
Rising above our station, singing anthems of elation
And when the rising is through
We arrive at the place that we're going to.
Where have you been?
What took you so long?
Whys and wherefores, and she easily bores
of the question-and-answer song.
There's just one more unsolved equation...
How long can we keep this elation?
For a moment, for an hour,
For the days our doubts devour,
The years of our duration, This is our elation!
ANTICIPATION ROAD
(c) 2026 Gary Bouchard
In anticipation of the coming storm, I pack some winter clothes and I stay warm
There is a road that has been hidden.
and forests of potential paper poems to be written.
But now I’m writing in my head, save the trees and sacrifice myself instead.
Something I've forgotten since my birth,
How very small we are compared to Earth
[Chorus]
There is a road that I may travel
Where all my pavement is reduced to gravel
I am a child at heart and then a boy,
Rise up a man again in childlike joy.
And roads may pass through cities where no one stops to care,
And roads may pass through villages where mothers children stare,
And roads may pass where people seldom go, where people seldom dare.
I anticipate my destiny and travel ‘til I'm there.
[Repeat Chorus]
There is a road that I may travel where all my pavement is reduced to gravel.
I am a child at heart and then a boy, rise up a man again...
Rise up a man again in childlike joy.
Childlike joy, Childlike joy, Childlike joy.
